Oosh Northern Beaches

The Anxious 'Kindy' Parent's Guide to OOSH Northern Beaches Before & After School Care Centres

What will my child be doing during the morning / afternoon?

Your child will have a choice of many activities including indoor craft activities, board games, cooking, dress ups, beading, colouring in, using the computer, group games and outdoor playing, on the outdoor equipment and the oval, organised sporting games and activities ''. just to name a few!

Do you serve breakfast?

Yes up until 7.45am. Also, if you wish to send some cereal or breakfast food with your child we can provide milk and our staff will ensure your child does eat before going to school. In the morning let children know if they need to go to after school care or other activities.

Should I pack some afternoon tea?

No ' not unless they are on a junk food diet and are allergic to fresh fruit, savoury biscuits, sandwiches, pasta, nachos, cheese, vegetable sticks/dips and juice, milk or water. Please remember afternoon tea is a snack and not a meal. If you find your child is still hungry later in the afternoon we do ask you pack a little extra snack for them.

What if my child forgets to go to After School Care?

We have a list of children enrolled for the day and its best to let your child's teacher know so they can also remind your child/ren. A staff member waits outside the Kindy classrooms for the Children to depart the class. We will call you immediately if there is any problem. It is a good idea to tie a ribbon or something noticeable to their bag to remind them on the days they should be attending. For Kindy kids and year 1 children please let their teacher know if your child's days change or if you book them in an extra day.

Will the other children pick on my Kindy child?

Not at all!! The older children will be in awe of your Kindy child's cuteness and size. They will include them in games and read them stories; generally they seem to take an older 'sister/brother' role.

Will the staff think I'm 'neurotic' if I ask how my child is settling in?

Absolutely not. Parent interaction is an important part of our day. Please feel free to ask Staff any questions you like regarding your child's responses and/or needs. We do ask that parents refrain from calling the centres at bell time as staff are usually busy with roll call and organising afternoon activities for the children.

Who takes the children to the centre after school?
